Here's a tool everyone doing Hot Rod fabrication work needs in their shop, a heavy duty, leather panel beaters bag. These bags have been used for many years by coachbuilders to rough out curved, or domed shaped sheet metal panels. They are usually filled with sand, lead or steel shot, and support the sheet metal in such a way as to make it possible to fabricate parts with signifcant compound curves, such a those used for motorcycle gas tank sides. Our standard bags are 14" in diameter. They are also available in jumbo size, 18" diameter. They are made of a robust, thick, yet soft finished leather on the work side, and a strong suede bottom side that helps keep the bag from moving around when working a panel. The seems are double stitched with commercial grade polyester thread. We sell them empty, ready for filling with whatever medium you wish to use, just insert a funnel and fill. They are easily closed with two nickel double cap rivets, (included with bags). Some people use steel shot, but others prefer a coarse sand, because shot is round and tends to roll together, while sand grains have flat sides, and can kinda "lock" together, holding the dished shape better. As with all our products, these Panel Beater Bags are Made In The USA!
