Here's something that is nearly impossible to find these days, vintage style registration holders. These are exact copies of a registration holder I found in the glove box of my '51 Packard a while ago. It still had my mothers old registration in it from 1966! It was pretty much toast, so I copied its design and size, and it turned out so well, I had tooling made and am offering them in 4 colors, and 2 styles. We make them out of good quality leather, with a special vinyl window, designed to stand up to UV. We updated the hardware with nickel plated rivets and loops, and zinc plated springs, so they should last a long while. They are sized exactly like the original, 3 1/2" x 5 1/8". We offer them with springs, for steering column mount, or clips, for sunvisor mounting. A Hot Rod Leather exclusive-As far as we know, we are the only ones reproducing these! They are available in Black, Red, Dark Brown, and our newest color, WHITE! Other colors available by special order. Proudly made right here in the USA!
Turns out a lot of young people haven't seen these before, and don't really know what they're for. Back in the day, up until the late 1960's or so, by law, your registration used to have to be visible from outside the car, so John Law could write your parking tickets. Your registration needed to be signed, dated and placed in a visible location. That's where these came in. You'd mount the steering column ones on top so the registration could be seen through the windshield, and the clip ons went on the sunvisor, and when you left your car, you'd flip the visor down, so the registration could be easily seen. In this day and age where personal privacy is paramount, it's kind of hard to believe, eh? Strange but TRUE!
IN WHITE & TAN!
